Yesterday marked the Opening Night of the 3rd Edit Yesterday marked the Opening Night of the 3rd Edition of @matatufilmstage 🎬✨ It has been a true labor of creativity, teamwork, and many sleepless nights to bring this edition to life. We’re proud to see how far this journey has come, from an idea to a living, breathing celebration of cinema that connects communities across Africa and beyond. We couldn’t have done it without our incredible partners and volunteers, most importantly, the filmmakers who crafted these powerful stories. This edition features bold African films from 15 countries, 🌍❤️ @MatatuFilmStage is a biennial traveling festival, running throughout the year in different African countries and the diaspora. This October’s screenings in Kampala mark the beginning of a cinematic journey that will take us to Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, and London. 🚐🎥 A special thank you to my amazing @film.possible family for your hard work, energy, and creative spirit; @filmmaker_lovelife, @mugumedavidson, @otimvince, and @bigsir.music. You’re the heartbeat of this vision. I appreciate and love you all deeply. 🙏🏾💛 Films are screening every day until October 10 at @cinemaxug (Century Cinemax, Acacia Mall) starting 7:30 PM, and also in local video halls (Ebibanda) around Kampala; bringing cinema back to the people. 🍿🎞️ And we’re not stopping there. ✨🎬FESPACO 2025!🎥🌍 Last Saturday, I con ✨🎬FESPACO 2025!🎥🌍 Last Saturday, I concluded my @fespaco.officiel journey with so much joy and energy! 🎉💫 It was my first time at the Pan-African Film & TV Festival of Ouagadougou 🇧🇫, and what an unforgettable experience it was! I was honored to receive an invitation from @durbanfilmmart 🏆 to join The African Film Labs Gathering at FESPACO 🌱✨, where we all discussed the work we do in providing professional support to filmmakers across the continent in the realisation of their films. 🎥🌍. During the gathering, we were introduced to the Future Mentors Programme 🔮🎓, where we gained deeper insights into the programme, learned from each other’s unique approaches, and reflected on shared challenges in the industry 🤝💡. I’m deeply grateful to have been part of this incredible space and the amazing people I met 🙏🏾❤️. Huge thanks to @durbanfilmmart and @fespaco.officiel for creating this space that allowed us to connect, collaborate, and grow together. 🌍🎬✨ Beyond the African Film Lab gathering, I was truly inspired by the spirit of the city and its people! 🏙️🔥 Cinema culture is alive, vibrant, and deeply cherished in Ouagadougou! 🎞️🎭 The love for storytelling is so powerful, and I pray this spirit transcends across all African countries! 🌍🎥💫 🎬✨ At @film.possible, we are deeply committed to nurturing and supporting African filmmakers! 🌍🎥 Through our @matatufilmresidency 🏡🎞️ and @matatufilmlab 🎬📚, we provide professional support, creative space, and mentorship to help filmmakers bring their stories to life! 🚀🎭 #FESPACO2025 #Africanfilmlabs #AfricanCinema #FilmPossible #StorytellingMatters #Gratitude #PresenfutureOfFilm 🚀🎬❤️
At @film.possible, we recognize the immense talent At @film.possible, we recognize the immense talent Uganda has, but we also know that talent needs nurturing and support. And that’s exactly what we do through our various initiatives! ✨🎬 Last week, we marked the end of an incredible journey—one that began in September 2024 and wrapped up in February 2025. Over this period, we had the privilege of nurturing 75 aspiring and emerging filmmakers across three regions in Uganda: Arua, Mbarara, and Kampala 🌍🎥. Through our @matatufilmlab, we equipped participants with the tools and knowledge to creatively and effectively tell their stories using available resources. As part of the program, we also hosted a masterclass on marketing and distribution, led by American film expert @za_wizard 🇺🇸🎬, who joined our incredible mentors in building the capacity of our participants. The result? 9 incredible short films, produced entirely using smartphone technology! 📱🎞️ These films were then showcased through our @matatufilmstage a screening and distribution platform, reaching audiences across all three regions. The reception? Absolutely phenomenal! 👏🎉 This remarkable edition was made possible through a partnership between @film.possible, @usmissionuganda, and @americanfilmshowcase. 💡🤝 At @film.possible, we remain committed to nurturing, developing, and sustaining Uganda’s and Africa’s film ecosystem 🚀🎥.
